Proposal
Entertainment and movement can be combined with the help of floor-to-ceiling interactive displays with software triggered content, easy to operate and to use. When touched by users, the various elements (video animations and images) come to life, creating a surprising and memorable visual experience along with fun moves and laughter as side effects (good for well-being!). Different difficulty levels/ visual content could engage children and adults in an enjoyable activity.
The displays would be applied to the walls of the big city libraries (f.e. Töölö library, Pasila library), cultural centers (f.e. Annantalo, Vuotalo, Stoa), city-owned museums (the Helsinki City Museum), the Helsinki Music Center (Musiikkitalo) etc., two locations in total, so that the experience could be provided in any kind of weather and accessible for everyone interested. The visual content could possibly be related to the location (music instruments, physical activities, historical content, nature etc.), or it could be a mix of different kinds of content.
Additionally, few smaller size interactive touch walls could also be installed in public healthcare clinics, the children hospital, rehabilitation centers, or retirement homes (meeting the requirements for the sound and video effects for those types of institutions) - the number depends on the demand.
The Central library Oodi will open an interactive touch wall for its visitors in May 2021 (for the permanent use), and it would be beneficial to bring this format in to other easily accessible locations in the city. The past projects were the interactive walls temporarily placed outside and inside the Helsinki Music Center (2018, 2020).
The financing would be needed for the hardware set-up, the software, and maintenance. The content for the walls would be bought as readily designed (not newly created).
(The idea was brought in by my then 7 y.o. son, and the availability of the visual/ sound content in Swedish would be a must here).
