Accessibility of OmaStadi web service

This accessibility statement explains how well the OmaStadi web service complies with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, what shortcomings there are in the accessibility of the online service and how you can give us feedback on accessibility problems.

The city of Helsinki is responsible for this online service. We want as many users as possible to be able to access our digital services. We take accessibility into account in the development of digital services.

How accessible is the online service?

This online service partly meets the A and AA level accessibility criteria required by law (WCAG criteria 2.1). The online service has some shortcomings in accessibility, which are described in more detail below.

We are constantly striving to improve the accessibility of the online service. If you observe any issues that are not described on this page, please let us know and we will do our best to fix any shortcomings. We will respond to requests and comments as soon as possible, but no later than within two weeks.

Accessibility monitoring

The Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland monitors the implementation of accessibility requirements. Content or features that are not yet accessible

Navigation and structure

• There are no multiple ways to locate a web page within a set of web pages. (WCAG 2.4.5)
• Navigation links have not always been named consistently. Some links that lead to same location have different names. (WCAG 3.2.4)
• The programmatical name of the logo link does not match the visible text. (WCAG 2.5.3)

Using the service

• There are summarized views about the suggestions. All the text content of the views is not readable by screen reader but the same information is available for screen reader in the detailed information of each suggestion. In addition, the screen reader can find some extra texts that are not visible. (WCAG 1.3.1)
• There are carousels on the front page of the service where a user can browse current topics and suggestions. The links of the carousels are not understandable for screen readers. In addition, the screen reader does not read all the text content of the carousels. (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.4)
• There are some tooltips in the service that can be exposed by pointing with a mouse but not by focusing with keyboard. (WCAG 2.1.1)
• The HTML code of the website does not fully meet the specification. (WCAG 4.1.1)

An effort will be made to correct the shortcomings listed in this statement by 31 December 2023.
