Summary

Part of the surface area reserved for allotments should be allocated to public community gardens. An area without any allotments could use park or school premises instead. Information on these should be shared on the City’s website.

Proposal description

Recommendations for increasing the number of community gardens in Helsinki: 1. A certain percentage of the area of each allotment garden can be converted into a community gardening area. 2. The region of the city where there are no existing gardening areas or have few gardening spaces can utilize spaces in parks, hospitals, and schools. 3. All existing or new community garden locations should be made available on city web pages as this can help people looking for a new place for gardening.
