Frisbeegolf on kasvattanut suosiotaan eksponentiaalisesti viime vuosina. Sen suosio perustuu luonnossa liikkumisen iloon ja välineiden edullisuuteen. Meilahdessa sijaitseva Suomen ensimmäinen frisbeegolfrata valmistui jo vuonna 1983. Se on sijaintinsa ja aloittelijaystävällisyytensä takia Helsingin suosituimpia ratoja. Meikun rata on kuitenkin rapistunut heikkoon kuntoon, eikä tiipaikkoja tai koreja ole uusittu vuosikymmeniin. Aloittelevien frisbeegolfarien hermoille käyvät myös väyläopasteiden ja ratakarttojen puute.
Meilahteen tarvitaan ajanmukainen ratavarustus. Siihen kuuluvat uudet korit, tarpeeksi isot ja kestävät tiipaikat, asianmukaiset opasteet ja kartat. Maailmankin mittakaavassa merkityksellinen lähiliikuntapaikka rappiosta kukoistukseen!
