Open-air nature museum in Lauttasaari (signage)

Summary

Improved knowledge of different species would increase people’s appreciation of biodiversity. For example, Lauttasaari could feature signs providing interesting information about animals and plants.

Proposal description

Lauttasaari has a wonderful coastal walking route that goes through lots of nature. It would be great if there was signage that explained the natural environment, e.g different types of trees, plants, animals, mushrooms. The signs can be similar to those found on the Olarin terveysluontopolku. This would encourage people to take a greater interest in the natural environment and hopefully care for it more, as well as being a reason to get people out and walking! Olisi hienoa, jos ihmiset osaisivat arvostaa luonnon ja eläimistön monimuotoisuutta myös kaupunkiympäristössä. Uskon, että lajituntemus vahvistaa monimuotoisuuden arvostusta. Niinpä ehdotankin, että jonnekin Etelä-Helsinkiin voisi sijoittaa tietoiskukylttejä, jotka kertoisivat kaupungin eläimistä ja kasveista. Lajeista olisi tärkeää puhua kiinnostavasti ja kauniisti, myös kanadanhanhesta.
