Small neighborhoods of Helsinki are in the shade of bigger neighborhoods. Both tourists and locals are familiar with Helsinki Downtown but don't know much about other areas. Now it's time for the suburbs to shine!
Helmimag is a digital city magazine that talks about the history, architecture, and hidden gems of Helsinki City. The aim is to let people learn about the city and travel to the areas they never visited before. This is especially needed during the pandemic when we can’t travel too far away but still have the need to see new places.
Helmimag will cover 1 area of Helsinki each month throughout 2022. For example, the January issue is about Kuusisaari, February about Tali, March about Malmi, etc. Each issue of Helmi Magazine will be created together with the residents.
Funding is needed to cover photography and writing work, as well as curation and promotion of the content on social media. Helmimag will be available for free online. The content of the magazine will be distributed on a digital platform (own website) and social media channels like Instagram and Facebook.
This project covers the entire city.

Hey
During March, city experts have commented on the proposals on the OmaStadi website and the proposals will be finalized together with city experts also in teemaraksa online workshops. Not all proposals will be addressed at teemaraksa workshops, as some will be completed on the OmaStadi website by co-development and discussion.
Teemaraksa workshop for your proposal is taking place at 14.4. 2021 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
It can happen that you will receive a message from the city expert to the comment field of your proposal that your proposal is ready as such and will proceed next to cost calculation. In this case, we will automatically cancel your registration for the workshop if you have already registered.
Register for the teemaraksa workshop by 5.4. 2021.

As for funding, have you considered crowdfunding or seeking sponsorships from local businesses? You may also want to apply for grants from cultural or arts organizations. Social media can be a great tool for promoting the magazine and reaching a wider audience.
I wish you all the best with Helmimag and hope it will inspire people to explore and appreciate the many wonderful neighborhoods of Helsinki! tunnel rush
