Ehdotus
This proposal suggests developing a wider range of cultural and sports activities in the Pitäjänmäki area. There has been clear demand in additional activities to improve community spirit of the district and promote social integration of residents with international background. For example, there are no community centres or resident houses (asukastalo) in the area at the moment.
The project will require the employment of a project coordinator who will need 1) to perform research in the area to determine the demand in particular activities and 2) to develop the program of activities.
Activities could include skills workshops (e.g. cooking, painting, photography), discussion groups on different topics, parenting courses with childcare, multicultural evenings, sports activities, Finnish language courses (open for everyone), nature walks, etc. Activities could be organized in the premises of Pitäjänmäki area e.g. youth centre (Pitäjänmäen nuorisotalo), library, sports facilities, playgrounds etc.
Budgeting (discussed with the City expert):
-Hiring a project coordinator for 1,5 years
-Organizing cultural and sports activities for a period of 1 year (including necessary materials and sports equipment) (3-5 times a week)

Hello! It would be good to clarify the proposal as follows:
- Do the workshops focus on parenting or do they also cover other topics?
- Frequency of workshops (e.g. once a week or once a month)?
- Is the teaching of the Finnish language open to everyone or is it directed at stay-at-home parents with childcare? Do you want goal-oriented teaching or club activities? Club activities for stay-at-home parents and children are currently organized at Pitäjänmäki Playground Nuoli and Strömberg. In Kotoklubi Kaneli children and parents learns Finnish language of everyday life functionally together by singing, playing, moving and the arts.
- What kind of voluntary work could Nicehearts ry give to the project (approximately an estimate of the number of hours, for example)? Would volunteering be running workshops or childcare?
Best wishes,
The Adult Education Centre of City of Helsinki
