Co-creation

In OmaStadi, residents and city employees design the OmaStadi projects to be implemented together. The outcome of this co-creation process is project plans for the OmaStadi projects that will be carried out.

You can influence the implementation of the projects by commenting on them on the OmaStadi website between 20 April and 1 June 2026.u are warmly welcome to take part in planning the projects on 27 May 2026 from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. at the Central Library Oodi.

For many OmaStadi projects, the co-creation process will continue even after May. This may include surveys, guided walks, workshops, or other forms of discussion and interaction.

A microforest in central Helsinki

Plant a carbon‑sequestering microforest in Helsinki to support both environmental sustainability and public health.

Anti‑bullying and anti‑racism education for children and young people

Schools should provide anti‑bullying and anti‑racism education, helping children understand that people look different but are equal.

Bird‑friendly construction

Improve the living conditions of birds by installing nesting boxes on buildings and making glass structures safer with protective patterning.

Christmas market in Puistola

Create a Christmas Market at Puistolantori with lights, decorations and a large Christmas tree that residents can decorate. Residents could also have stalls to sell handmade products.

City rowing boats for eastern marinas

The eastern archipelago route is not sufficient; a few safe rowing boats for public use would improve access to the islands.

Clean and tidy Central Helsinki

Combination bins for trash and cigarette butts should be installed in all parks in the central district that have benches. Cigarette butts and snus pouches litter, smell and can endanger children, animals and the environment.

Cleaning Töölö Bay and installing a fountain

The water quality of Töölö Bay should be improved. The former fountain should also be restored — preferably a more impressive one — and equipped with lighting.

Development of Tapaninvainio Beach

Develop Tapaninvainio Beach with modern outdoor fitness equipment. Renew and add changing rooms. Also add a few tables and benches and install two new toilets for summer.

Forest play park to Nurkka Playground

Create a forest‑themed playing area for children in Nurkka Playground, supporting health and wellbeing. Plant durable, multi‑species shrubs and trees.

Free indoor and outdoor exercise for low‑income families with children

Provide sports activities for children from low‑income families. Activities could include ball games, gymnastics, parkour, orienteering, outdoor exercise and group play for young children.

Free music and city festival

The proposal combines wishes for free music events, city festivals and village celebrations in Herttoniemi and the wider southeastern area.

Learning support for young people

Teaching study skills and providing light subject specific support for all lower secondary students in the northern area.

Leisure pier for Munkkiniemi Beach (to replace the removed washing pier)

A new small pier with tables and benches is proposed for Munkkiniemi Beach, replacing the former carpet washing pier.

Litter‑free Eastern Helsinki

Helsinki should take multiple measures to reduce increasing littering by adding more bins and clear “no littering” signs, especially in nature areas.

Making Eränkävijäntori a pleasant and safe meeting place

It is proposed that the Eränkävijäntori parking area be reduced in size and transformed into a pleasant communal space with benches, plantings and meeting areas, improving both safety and the overall appearance of the area.

More beautiful plants to parks and streets in Southern Helsinki

Continue the beautiful flower plantings in Helsinki’s parks. Add more floral displays to both parks and street edges.

More benches

Add more benches in public spaces, along pedestrian routes and outdoor trails in Northeastern Helsinki.

More flowers and trees in Southeastern Helsinki

Underused green areas in Southeastern Helsinki would be reviewed for planting new trees and flowers, increasing shade and local biodiversity.

More greenery on the streets and in unused spaces in Central Helsinki

More vegetation should be planted near roads and squares that are currently paved or asphalted. This would reduce heat retaining surfaces during hot weather.

More litter bins along streets

Streetside bins have disappeared. Restoring containers would help maintain cleanliness.
