Developing common use of the beach, sauna and docks in Iso Kallahti

Proposal

There is great potential for developing the use of the beach in Iso Kallahti and the area in the vicinity. Our idea is to use existing infrastructure, eg. the Sanna's sauna, add some elements and develop ways for people to use and share the services in a simple way.

Access to the water by boat in Iso Kallahti is difficult, because there are no docks to pick up or drop of people from. We suggest that a suitable dock is added, perhaps by expanding the existing dock next to Sanna's sauna, which could also allow for a small tower facing the beach, opposite from where the boats can moore. Improved access would allow for people to order a boat taxi, or for pick-ups by boats in the area, eg. visiting the nearby recreational islands.

At the moment, Sanna's sauna is underutilized, especially in the winter period. We suggest that the sauna building is upgraded and fitted with required technology so that it can be booked on-line and accessed using a mobile phone. The sauna itself would probably benefit from a facelift at the same time, and there needs to be required equipment for allyear use. The use of the sauna can be divided so that some of the slots are for regular groups, eg. winter swimming, and some are available for booking.

To increase safety on the beach and improve the use of the sporting equipment, especially in the winter and by night, we suggest that lighting is improved by adding suitable and smartlooking lighting for the access routes, the sporting area and along the shorefront.
