WC and shower facilities in Eira beach

In the Eira beach area a toilet is planned for Ursininkallio (the east side of the beach). The beach is not an official beach, and therefore there are no facilities. It is not possible for the urban environment industry to maintain bathing services in its own areas, and in principle no bathing structures are placed in them. The area is undergoing a change in the town plan of Hernesaari, where the area of the current beach is to be transformed into an official beach area. The City Council approved the proposed amendment to the town plan on 22 April 2020. With the new town plan, the area is likely to move to the management and maintenance of the culture and leisure department in the future. When the new plan becomes final and an official beach is possibly established swimming services can also be considered, either as the city’s own activities or as organized by the club. The toilet for the area has been considered, but the timetable has not been decided. Showers in the area cannot be built until the area is an official beach. In the new town plan of Hernesaari, the current bathing area is zoned as a larger area as an official beach, with space for a maintenance building that is likely to include showers and toilets (800 sqm). Implementation will require the relocation of the Eiranranta street line to the site of the temporary school building and the city's investment in the relocation of the street, as well as a project to implement the maintenance building.
