Nowadays the most effective way of being informed of City events is via Facebook, which excludes the access of the information by non-regular Facebook users. Searching for children and family events on the City website is not always effective, as it does not provide refined search options.
We then suggest that the City provides an advanced search option on the website, where families can easily filter and access information about events in Helsinki: what, where, when, target age-group and eventual costs. For example, if I was just given a day off from work tomorrow and I want to do something with my 2-year old, I can visit the website and search for what is happening in the city tomorrow suitable for a 2-year-old.
To make the access for up-to-date information even easier, the webpage could have an option for the events’ organizers to add the events’ details. The page could also feature a list of playgrounds and other children-related facilities and their opening hours and location.
