Skills workshops in Pitäjänmäki
The Pitäjänmäki area has a density of foreign residents; it’s an inactive region in the sense that there are no multicultural activities for these families in integration processors or integrated in Finnish society.
The community’s interests are all about creating and making a space where they'll feel pleased and secure. To satisfy all those needs, couple of actions needs to be executed through several activities such as: Create workshops that aim at increasing the practical skills of the residents. Through the skills workshops and seminars, people could learn something enjoyable and useful, free-of-charge and close to their home for e.g. learning Finnish language.
creating parenting courses that will allow the parents as well as the newly ones to deal with their kids from a very early age to understand their mindsets. The workshops could offer facilities for the participant’s needs such as child care.
Creating outdoor sport facilities for all ages in this area. There could be a theme park such as Angry Birds or Moomin for children and outdoor sport field with gym equipment, running tracks, tennis or table tennis, climbing walls.
Budgeting:
* Hire a coordinator and instructors. The budget is also used for materials and information.
* Rent a place or build a new youth centre.
* Volontary workshops from Neighbourhood mothers project- Nicehearts ry

Hi there!
I hope you are doing fine! This proposal has been commented by the city experts that it can not include the part of the outdoor sport facilities without it exceeding the budget. So therefore we suggest that you remove the outdoor facilities part (theme park) and then this proposal is ready as such and will proceed next to cost calculation.
Kind Regards,
Silja Lindblad Borough liaison, City of Helsinki

Hello! Thank you for your proposal. It is not possible to build an outdoor sport facilities or a youth center, the money allocated for the area is not enough. It is possible to plan activities on existing premises owned by the city (playgrounds, youth centers and schools). Pitäjänmäki already has e.g. a youth center and two playgrounds where the activities mentioned in the proposal could be organized.
Best wishes,
The Adult Education Centre of City of Helsinki
Hello! It would be good to clarify the proposal as follows:
- Do the workshops focus on parenting or do they also cover other topics?
- Frequency of workshops (e.g. once a week or once a month)?
- Is the teaching of the Finnish language open to everyone or is it directed at stay-at-home parents with childcare? Do you want goal-oriented teaching or club activities? Club activities for stay-at-home parents and children are currently organized at Pitäjänmäki Playground Nuoli and Strömberg. In Kotoklubi Kaneli children and parents learns Finnish language of everyday life functionally together by singing, playing, moving and the arts.
- What kind of voluntary work could Nicehearts ry give to the project (approximately an estimate of the number of hours, for example)? Would volunteering be running workshops or childcare?
Best wishes,
The Adult Education Centre of City of Helsinki
