Cultural and sports activities in Pitäjänmäki
This proposal suggests developing a wider range of cultural and sports activities in the Pitäjänmäki area. There has been clear demand in additional activities to improve community spirit of the district and promote social integration of residents with international background. For example, there are no community centres or resident houses (asukastalo) in the area at the moment.
The project will require the employment of a project coordinator who will need 1) to perform research in the area to determine the demand in particular activities and 2) to develop the program of activities.
Activities could include skills workshops (e.g. cooking, painting, photography), discussion groups on different topics, parenting courses with childcare, multicultural evenings, sports activities, Finnish language courses (open for everyone), nature walks, etc. Activities could be organized in the premises of Pitäjänmäki area e.g. youth centre (Pitäjänmäen nuorisotalo), library, sports facilities, playgrounds etc.
Budgeting (discussed with the City expert):
-Hiring a project coordinator for 1,5 years
-Organizing cultural and sports activities for a period of 1 year (including necessary materials and sports equipment) (3-5 times a week)

Hi there!
I hope you are doing fine! This proposal has been commented by the city experts that it can not include the part of the outdoor sport facilities without it exceeding the budget. So therefore we suggest that you remove the outdoor facilities part (theme park) and then this proposal is ready as such and will proceed next to cost calculation.
Kind Regards,
Silja Lindblad Borough liaison, City of Helsinki
Hi there,
During March, city experts have commented on the proposals on the OmaStadi website and the proposals will be finalized together with city experts also in teemaraksa online workshops. Not all proposals will be addressed at teemaraksa workshops, as some will be completed on the OmaStadi website by co-development and discussion.
Teemaraksa workshop for your proposal is taking place at 19.4.2021 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
It can happen that you will receive a message from the city expert to the comment field of your proposal that your proposal is ready as such and will proceed next to cost calculation. In this case, we will automatically cancel your registration for the workshop if you have already registered.
Register for the teemaraksa workshop by 5.4. 2021. link:

Hello! Thank you for your proposal. It is not possible to build an outdoor sport facilities or a youth center, the money allocated for the area is not enough. It is possible to plan activities on existing premises owned by the city (playgrounds, youth centers and schools). Pitäjänmäki already has e.g. a youth center and two playgrounds where the activities mentioned in the proposal could be organized.
Best wishes,
The Adult Education Centre of City of Helsinki
Hello! It would be good to clarify the proposal as follows:
- Do the workshops focus on parenting or do they also cover other topics?
- Frequency of workshops (e.g. once a week or once a month)?
- Is the teaching of the Finnish language open to everyone or is it directed at stay-at-home parents with childcare? Do you want goal-oriented teaching or club activities? Club activities for stay-at-home parents and children are currently organized at Pitäjänmäki Playground Nuoli and Strömberg. In Kotoklubi Kaneli children and parents learns Finnish language of everyday life functionally together by singing, playing, moving and the arts.
- What kind of voluntary work could Nicehearts ry give to the project (approximately an estimate of the number of hours, for example)? Would volunteering be running workshops or childcare?
Best wishes,
The Adult Education Centre of City of Helsinki
More information about the activities of Kotoklubi Kaneli can be found on the city's website: https://www.hel.fi/helsinki/fi/kasvatus-ja-koulutus/leikki-ja-avoin-toiminta/perheiden-aamupaivatoiminta/suomea-toiminnallisesti-ryhmissa/
We had a fruitful discussion with Työväenopisto experts Anne Rasskasov and Annika Vesanto during teemaraksa on 19.04.21 and were given advice regarding our proposal. Developing regular activities in the area will require the employment of a project coordinator. Finnish language courses will be open to everyone. We will edit the proposal before 07.05.21.
Hello,
The co-creation of proposals will continue here on OmaStadi website until 21.5.2021 During that time, city experts will comment on the proposals and, if necessary, request clarifications so that the proposals are ready for the calculations of the proposals’ costs and later this year for residents to vote on.
Edit the proposal according to the city experts’ comments by the deadline of 21.5.2021.
If you participated in the online workshops during the previous two weeks, please also remember to modify your proposal according to the comments of the city experts presented in the workshops. When the proposal is complete, the city expert acknowledges it by comment: “ready for cost calculation”.
The title and text of the proposal will appear on the OmaStadi website during the vote. At this stage, it is also worthwhile to make them as descriptive and attractive as possible.
Have a nice wait for first of May 😊
Kind Regards
Silja Lindblad, Borough Liaison

Hello,
We have edited our proposal according to comments of the city experts presented in teemaraksa workshop. We hope that it is ready for cost calculation now.
If the proposal becomes too expensive, it is possible to reduce the duration of the coordinator's work contract to 1 year, as well as the amount of hours of weekly activities.
Hello! Thank you for participating in OmaStadi! Your proposal is now complete. Next, the city calculates the cost framework for the proposal before it goes to the vote. Best regards, Anne Rasskasov, Helsingin työväenopisto
As the Pitäjänmäki residents' association Pitäjänmäki-seura ry will definitely do what we can to support this proposal and it will of course be included in our publicity.
