Proposal
This proposal suggests an interactive way of learning about Finnish history, culture and art. Modern technologies allow us to learn new things 'on-the-go' on the screens of our devices, for example, via QR codes. The information stored in QR codes can be 'read' by smartphones.
We propose developing a mobile app through which Helsinki residents and guests will be introduced to a diverse selection of cultural content about Finland. Sightseeing attractions in central Helsinki will have QR codes that people will be able to scan with their smartphones and, thus, get access to information about Finnish music, books, historical events, photography, visual arts etc. Special cultural routes (musical, literary, historic etc.) can be designed through collaborations with various cultural institutions (Musiikkitalo, museums, art galleries, etc.).
Within the framework of this OmaStadi proposal, focus will be on royalty-free content (with the possibility to use copyrighted materials in the future if this project proves to be successful and receives additional funding).
Budgeting (discussed with the City expert):
-Mobile app development
-Hiring a producer (to develop the program/manuscript)
-Hiring a software developer (to create the app with QR codes)
