Proposal
Gardenia (or what it was Gardenia), sited in Viikki Science campus is abandoned. A great greenhouse with facilities around with no use at the moment.
Why not to make a urban farm where interested people could rent a piece in order to cultivate his/her own veggies all year round.
And not only veggies: my idea is to make it a complete ecosystem with fish, plants and mushrooms, an aquaponic system, or even better, some.
An aquaponic system consist on a fish tank, the water of the tank is used to feed the plant (cultivated with hydroponic techniques) and to keep high moisture for mushrooms cultivation which in fact grow in the plant scraps.
Current soil could be also used for cultivation!
Inner temperature could be maintained at 20+/- 2 Celsius so enough to plants, mushrooms and fish to thrive but cheaper for the city than keeping a tropical ecosystem as it was
Every rented place could pay for their own electricity consumption because some lighting will be necessary for the plants.
