Human library

Ehdotus

We would like to arrange in Helsinki the "Human library", concept originated in Denmark. Real people tell their stories like books, 1 person = 1 book. Everyone can choose a "book" from the catalog and reserve available time and place where he/she can listen to this "book". The places where the human library stories can be listened are in different parts of the city, in libraries or other publicly available places.
Stories might be presented in different languages, thus, presenting a chance to listen and learn and practice a different language, communicate with other people and listen their stories or share one's own story.
Value to the society: Human library challenges prejudices that we are so different; it makes us listen to each other, overcome communication barriers through a positive dialogue. It is inclusive, interactive, invites people to be open minded, communicate, and build more inclusive society.
