What is voting?
All residents turning 12 years of age or older during the voting year may vote.
At OmaStadi, you may vote for proposals linked to one area of your choice and for proposals pertaining to all of Helsinki. For example, you can choose your own area or some other area for casting your area-specific vote on the proposals. In addition to this, all voters are automatically able to vote on the proposals covering the entire City. More information about the districts and appropriations
The voting is linked to the budgeting. Once you have selected your voting area, you can choose as many proposals as the area’s maximum budget allows. A visual representation of the costs will be displayed every time you select a proposal. The vote on the proposals that affect the entirety of Helsinki takes place the same way. Please notice that you can’t change your vote afterwards.
Do you need support for voting?
The City promotes the online voting system but will also provide assistance to voters at specific service points. In addition to this, the City’s residents may vote at certain service points of the City by showing their ID.
